By Rail : Nearest railway station is at Dehradun, 34 km. Taxis and buses are available outside the railway station for transit to Mussoorie, there is a Musoorie bus stand near the station.

Chakrata is a fascinating destination elevated at 2270mts above sea level in the Dehradun district of Uttarakhand state. Chakrata is a cantonment area situated between Yamuna and Tons River. Chakrata is an exquisite place situated amidst coniferous, rhododendron and oak trees. Chakrata is a picturesque spot away from the crowd and pollution in the placid environment. Chakrata is blessed with natural beauteousness and panoramic vistas of nature. To the east of Chakrata, lies the famous Mussoorie and on the west lies kaleidoscopic Kinnaur. The access of foreigners to military cantonment of Chakrata is restricted. A person gets relieved and unbounds himself from all the material benefits and tensions of life to indulge in the presence of nature and its mystical creations that can be best seen at Chakrata.

Chakrata is an ideal spot for nature lovers, bird watchers, adventure lovers and wild lifers as the place is more than capable of satisfyinf their needs. Chakrata is rich in varied flora and fauna and there are many excursions from here which offers panoramic views. Tiger fall

Tiger falls is the main attraction in Chakrata. An adventurous trek to the fall site is an enchanting experience. It is one of the highest . he Tiger falls is the main attraction in Chakrata. This enchanting waterfall can be reached by an easy 5km trek with rhododendron and oak trees everywhere. Tiger falls is one of the highest waterfalls in India falling from a height of about 312ft. The view of this cascading waterfall leaves a breathtaking and mesmerizing impact on the tourists. This is an ideal place for picnic and doing photography. The scattered drops of this majestic waterfall are collected in a small pond making it a gorgeous location for taking a bath.




Kanasar is situated 30km from Chakrata on Chakrata-Tuni road. Forest Rest Houses are available at this place so that you can explore the pristine beauty of this place. Towering peaks and dense forests makes this place more splendorfull.



Hanol Temple

Lord "Mahasu" is worshipped in the village of Hanol, lying on the eastern bank of the Tons. The temple of the deity constructed in the "Huna" architectural style elevated at 1429 mts. Above sea level is 186 kms from Dehradun. It is believed that a demon lived here and devoured atleast one man a day. In mandrath, a devotee of Lord Shiva defied the custom and prayed to Lord Shiva for help. Deolari Devi another devotee of Shiva and a resident of Hanol on being directed by God sent her four sons to Mandrath and asked the man to plough his field. After a long fight lasting a couple of days the demon was killed and the man while ploughing his field discovered four Shivlings-Maasu, Pavasi, Vasik and Chalda named after the four sons of Deolari Devi. The villagers thereafter started worshipping Shiva as "Mahasu".
